I have an ideal picture of a what a high performing team might look like in my head. Everyone's mental health and wellbeing would be flourishing; everyone would work closely together to contribute to a shared purpose; the team would be made up of passionate and talented individuals who care and support each other.
For a moment I imagined high performance sports teams as living this ideal, but we know this isn’t always the case.
Are your interests and hobbies, perhaps real passions? Or are they things you just enjoy doing?
Has failure ever knock you off your desired course, permanently?
As an adult I can firmly say that any detour or permanent re-route from my dreams, wasn’t necessarily a misdemeanour I could never recover from. Regret never killed anyone, though it's not comfortable and best left with the sleeping dogs.
However, as a young person it broke my heart.
Do you ever feel like a passenger in your own life? It's like your vehicle is moving but you’re not in the drivers’ seats?
Some days our lives can feel automatic and reactionary, like we’re not really in control. As creatures of habit we don’t always think about where we’re heading in the long term and why.
It’s like keeping an eye on the petrol gauge, but forgetting to check the oil.
I love a random Sunday drive, but real adventure is when you have a planned destination like a long-haul roadie!
Purpose is elusive to many of us! Even though it’s termed a “calling”, my hearing must be a bit off because it took me nearly 48 years to hear it! There’s also the notion of ‘seeking’ your purpose - but I can tell you, I’ve travelled the world and I still couldn’t find what I was looking for (U2 knows it too!).
The term Spirited is an energetic and uplifting word which conveys enthusiasm, determination, courage and vibrancy - and the enduring spirit within all of us.
Spirited coaching inspires and supports people to find their purpose, so they can live an authentic and fulfilling life, doing what they love.
“Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.”
